Whole 30 Program - Day 1
I have decided to try the Whole 30 Program... and today is Day 1. Here's the best part... Chris is doing it with me!! We are cutting out all refined sugars, focusing on eating more veggies and lean meats! I can not tell you how excited I am to start this journey, and even more excited I have an internal support system to keep me in check too. Granted I do most of the cooking anyway, BUT.... I know Chris will help me withstand reaching for those sour patch watermelons in my night stand drawer (that's right... I keep candy literally within arm distance).
So, here is my recap of day one and what we ate:
7:00 - Coffee... black... ugh
8:00 - Sweet Potato Hash and Scrambled Egg Whites
11:30 - Garlic Lime Shrimp & Peppers
1:30 - Apples with Lime
6:00 - Grilled Balsamic Burgers with a Pesto Sauce made with Raw Cashews & Roasted Tomatoes
9:00 - Baked Banana with Almond Butter, and Cinnamon
Honestly I thought I would be more hungry than I actually am, but I'm doing pretty good. The black coffee was probably the hardest part of the day for me, but like the book said... it wasn't hard, just not as enjoyable as it would be when I put my Dunkin Donuts Extra Creamy Creamer in it (insert Homer Simpson donut voice here). However, I am exhausted. The book said this might happen... because my body is detoxing and changing its habits, but I need a burst of energy like fat kid needs cake... who am I kidding... like I need cake :(
So, why am I doing this? I'm tired of craving sugar, my diet before consisted of coffee and lots of cream for breakfast, buttered noodles for lunch, candy for my afternoon snack... and some carb loaded meal for dinner. I would top off the evening with a homemade ice cream shake... every.single.night. My pre-mom world could handle all the sugar, I would just sleep in later or take a nap. But the days of sleeping in past 7:30, or nap taking are waaaaay over. Which is totally fine. I shouldn't be sleeping my sugar intake away, I should be up with my nugget... running, tickling, laughing, playing, chasing, and everything else we do that normally exhausts me when it really shouldn't. So, insert Whole 30, it's time to reset my body and know exactly what triggers my boy into its food coma state.
I'll post another update soon, but in the meantime... enjoy this little shitrless monster... he's just the cutest!
